Team Lake Effect Racing Logo

Team Lake Effect Racing was founded in 1996 by employees and customers of Bike Authority with the goal of forming a team of friends who would ride and race together. The team was originally named “Team Burn” whose members concentrated almost exclusively on mountain bike racing. The team organized and held a mountain bike race at Alpine Valley Ski Resort in the summer of 1996 that was so successful the Resort decided to take over the race in subsequent years. The team has grown each year and has on average more than 35 diverse members.

Team members compete locally, nationally and internationally in stage races, time trials, road races, triathlons, duathlons, 12 and 24 hour mountain bike races, cross country mountain bike races, cyclocross races, running races, cross country (nordic) ski races, and adventure races. Past team members have included Paul Martin, the 1997, 2007 US Elite National Road Champion; Dave Walker, a pro rider for Sobe Cannondale; and Jay Cech, a professional duathlete who still races around the world on Team USA.

The team’s captain and leader is Rudy Sroka, a former US National Cycling Team member, a 6-time New England Road Champion, and a rider for the US National Team in the amateur Tour de France. Over the years, Lake Effect has had numerous team and individual successes. For example, the team won the overall at the 2004 Savage Hill Stage Race which was the most prestigious road race in the region.

We compete all year round in a variety of venues for road, cyclocross, mountain bike, running, duathlon, and triathlon racing. In fact, our members have gained national as well as international level podium successes for the past several years. Those achievements combined with our continued successes will enable us to represent our sponsors in an exciting alternative to traditional advertising. We thank you for your consideration in our sponsorship, and look forward to your involvement with Team Lake Effect Racing.
