Difficult on any day, the Knob was especially brutal Saturday with extreme heat, humidity, and double the usual race distance.
John P. took 3rd in the Expert under 35, finishing 42 miles in a very competitive event.
Todd B. won the Sport 30-39 in 2:48 for 28 miles. His time was third best of the sixty Sport category racers.
Julie won the Women’s Sport race with a 3:12. This time put among the fastest Sport men. She also had tons of traffic as her wave was last off.
Rudy won the Sport 50+ with a 2:49 which was 4th fastest overall. On the podium, he was referred to as
a local institution. He felt with the high temperatures, and longer race distance, he should be institutionalized.
A great bunch of volunteers handed up cold water at two locations which helped keep the racers going. The Knob also had free food and cold drinks afterwards; a welcome site after hours in the heat.
On Sunday, very early a.m. Robert won the Eastern Time Trial under 18 category and Julie did the double winning the Women’s event (by a mere 7 seconds). Both were boiling over by the finish.
This was 12.4 miles in Deerfield, Oh. Very close and organized very well. Over 50 starters this time.
An extremely hot weekend to be bicycle racing; Was it as bad as Tour of the Valley?? Those of us who did both killed too many brain cells to make an intelligent decision…..

It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
